CT TechProvides health care services by applying x-ray energy to assist in diagnosis or treatment. Performs radiographic procedures and related techniques, producing images for interpretation by a licensed practitioner. Performs computed tomography and related procedures to demonstrate sectional anatomic images for interpretation by a licensed practitioner. Exercises professional judgment in the performance of services and maintains a demeanor complementary to medical ethics. Provides appropriate patient care and recognizes patient conditions essential for successful completion of procedures. Performs computed tomography to obtain diagnostic sectional images for interpretation by a licensed practitioner. Performs diagnostic radiography procedures. Corroborates the patient's clinical history with procedures, assuring information is documented and available for use by a licensed practitioner. Prepares patients for procedures; provides instructions to obtain desired results, gain cooperation, and minimize anxiety. Selects and operates radiography equipment and associated devices to achieve desired results. Positions patients and equipment to best demonstrate the anatomic area of interest, respecting patient ability and comfort. Immobilizes patients as required for appropriate examination. Determines radiographic technique exposure factors, minimizing exposure to patients and others. Evaluates images for technical quality, assuring proper identification is recorded. Verifies informed consent for and assists a licensed practitioner with interventional procedures. Practices aseptic techniques as necessary. Assumes responsibility for the provision of physical and emotional needs of patients during procedures. In agreement with state statutes and/or where institutional policy permits, prepares, identifies, and/or administers contrast media and/or medications as prescribed by a licensed practitioner. Initiates basic life support action when necessary. Assists licensed practitioners with fluoroscopic and specialized interventional radiography procedures. Agency staff may be floated to other departments where they are qualified to perform patient care. Operates computed tomographic equipment and accessories. Selects appropriate programs for desired protocols. Understands methods and is capable of performing venipunctures. Evaluates images for technical quality and manipulates display parameters, assuring proper identification. Maintains archival storage of digitized data as appropriate. Maintains knowledge of and observes universal precautions. Provides patient education. Participates in required education applicable to position.
