United American Indian Involvement (UAII) is the only Urban Indian Organization in Los Angeles County, proudly serving as a home for American Indian and Alaska Native communities. Through our healthcare facility and culturally centered programs, we provide essential physical, behavioral, and spiritual health services—helping individuals stay connected to their Tribal heritage and traditions.
For over 50 years, UAII has grown to become the largest nonprofit provider of health and human services for American Indians and Alaska Natives in Los Angeles, home to the nation’s largest Urban Indian population. Position Summary
The Program Assistant/Case Manager supports the delivery of high-quality youth development programs and services that promote the academic, social, emotional, and behavioral growth of children and teens participating in the UAII Boys & Girls Club programs. This position assists with planning and implementing daily activities, provides a safe and positive environment for youth, and supports individual members through basic case management services. The Program Assistant builds positive relationships with youth and families, monitors participant progress, connects families to community resources, maintains accurate documentation, and collaborates with staff, schools, and partner agencies to address identified needs.
The Program Assistant/Case Manager is a grant funded position.
Essential Functions
An individual in this role must be able to perform the following functions, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Responsible for providing safe transportation for youth to and from UAII Boys & Girls Club business related activities on weekdays, evenings and some weekends.
- Responsible for administrative functions such as accurate documentation on paper and electronically through the Resource Patient Management System (RPMS).
- Responsible for day-to-day aspects of the program.
- Assist in planning, implementing, and supervising educational, recreational, and enrichment activities.
- Foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for all youth participants.
- Build positive relationships with youth, families, volunteers, and community partners.
- Conduct basic case management activities, including intake, assessments, goal setting, referrals, follow-up services, and documentation.
- Monitor and track member participation, progress, and outcomes.
- Identify youth and family needs and connect them with appropriate community resources and support services.
- Maintain confidential participant records and case notes in accordance with organizational policies.
- Support crisis intervention efforts and report concerns related to safety, well-being, or mandated reporting requirements.
- Collaborate with parents, social service agencies, and Club staff to support youth success.
- Participate in staff meetings, training, and professional development opportunities.
- Assist with special events, outreach activities, and parent engagement initiatives.
- Responsible for ensuring that all required data and reports are completed and submitted.
- Recruit program participants and conduct community outreach activities.
- Coordinate and oversees program evaluations.
- Collaborate with other members of the multi-disciplinary team.
- Produce reports in a timely and accurate manner as required by funding sources and the Sr. Program Manager, and Director of Boys and Girls Club.
- Maintain documentation of all client encounters utilizing internal data management systems (RPMS).
- Travel for work related professional development or for work related functions like youth retreats, summer camp, and youth conferences.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
- Maintain valid CA Driver’s License and Auto Insurance.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or GED
- Associate degree in Social Work, Human Services, Education, Youth Development, or a related field preferred
- Experience working with children, teens, and families in a youth development, educational, or social services setting.
- CPR/First Aid certification or ability to obtain certification upon hire.
- One (1) year of experience working with youth, and families.
- A combination of experience, education, and training may substitute for degree requirements on a year for year basis.
Preferred Qualifications (Education & Experience)
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university in public health, social work, physical education, or related field.
- Experience working with the American Indian/Alaskan Native community.
- Experience working with nonprofit organizations, community groups, and performance-based government contracts.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Competencies
- Knowledge and familiarity with local and state parks & recreation.
- Strong understanding and sensitivity to American Indian/Alaska Native (AI/AN) cultures and lifestyles, and work effectively with AI/AN population.
- Knowledge of case management principles, trauma-informed care, and community resources preferred.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and documentation skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and establish professional boundaries.
- Effective oral and written communications skills with sensitivity to lifestyles of targeted participants.
- Skill in organizing and leading outdoor activities.
- Skills in operating personal computer using a variety of computer software (Microsoft Office, Adobe, Microsoft Teams, Zoom).
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of client and personnel information and comply with all applicable federal and state privacy laws, as well as UAII policy (HIPAA, HITECH, etc.).
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with management, coworkers, and outside contacts.
- Ability to keep up with a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to learn and apply program/agency operating policies and procedures.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks concurrently and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work independently as well as with teams.
Conditions of Hire

· Fingerprint clearance and post-offer drug test.
· Proof of hepatitis B vaccination and TB screening.
· UAII strongly encourages COVID-19 and Influenza vaccinations; in the absence of the recommended vaccinations, employees are advised to wear a mask while in clinic areas.
Working Conditions
Onsite, field work, and travel required in this position. Occasional outdoor recreation and camping. The work environment characteristics described here represent those employee encounters while performing the primary functions of this job.
