Director of Fleet & Operations — Phoenix, AZ Full-time, Salaried, Exempt | $65,000/year base + an uncapped direct percentage of monthly net profits while maintaining a specified utilization percentage .

About Us We run three adjacent businesses, nicknamed Van Buren Ventures, that operates three businesses from one location: Desert Drives (weekly gig-economy vehicle rentals for rideshare/delivery drivers), Airport Parking Phoenix (B2B commercial parking and storage near Sky Harbor), and Native Campervans (campervan rentals). We provide affordable, flexible vehicle rentals that help hardworking families, single parents, and individuals stay on the road to work, school, and opportunity — and we're growing fast. The Role The Director of Fleet & Operations leads day-to-day execution across our entire portfolio — Desert Drives, Airport Parking Phoenix, and Native Campervans. This hands-on leadership role owns vehicle turnaround, lot operations, vendor and remote team management, and incident response, ensuring our fleet services run efficiently, safely, and to a high standard. Reporting directly to the co-owners, you'll be the operational backbone that lets leadership focus on scaling the business instead of day-to-day fires — with real authority over a team of on-call employees, vehicle porters, detailer and mechanic vendors, and our remote operations associates (VEAs), and the first call when something goes wrong. Responsibilities - Manage vehicle turnaround, inspections, and reconditioning between rentals - Coordinate and supervise vehicle porters, detailer vendors, and mechanic vendors, including follow-up on open repair items - Oversee day-to-day parking lot operations near Sky Harbor and support B2B commercial account servicing - Lead quality assurance and readiness checks for rentals — cleaning, restocking, and handoff standards - Supervise a small team of on-call employees and remote operations associates (VEAs), reviewing and directing their day-to-day decisions (mechanic dispatch, collections, acquisition sourcing) - Respond to and manage incidents, accidents, and urgent operational issues with clear escalation protocols — including after-hours monitoring alerts and urgent renter issues - Monitor unit economics, damage claims, and operational performance metrics across all three business lines - Use fleet management and project management tools to keep operations running efficiently Preferred Qualifications - 2+ years in fleet management and multi-site operations - Associate degree in Logistics or Operations Management preferred - Experience managing a mix of employees and vendor partners simultaneously - Strong skills in fleet management, vendor coordination, and incident management - Proven leadership in remote team supervision and operational planning - Excellent customer service, problem-solving, and communication abilities - Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and comparable operational/fleet management software - Comfortable with occasional local travel to support operations Compensation & Benefits - $65,000 base salary - Monthly performance bonuses up to $1,000 a month across all three business lines, tied directly to net profit growth and utilization/efficiency — the levers this role controls day to day. Full bonus structure and targets shared at offer stage; total bonus potential can add meaningfully to base pay for strong performance. - Direct access to and mentorship from ownership - Real growth path as the company scales toward 100+ vehicles and additional business lines
