Manager Of Custodial Services Department
Custodial Reports To: Director Of Custodial Services Supervises: From 25 To 35 FLSA Status: Exempt Shifts: Evenings 1:30 Pm - 10:00 Pm
Summary: The Manager Of Custodial Services supervises custodian employees, providing services at assigned sites to maintain an attractive, sanitary, and safe environment for students, staff, and visitors. Responsibilities include overseeing special cleaning operations, preparing facilities for activities and events, and supporting custodians to ensure safe and timely project completion.
Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Leadership And Supervision: Oversee all custodial administrative functions, ensuring adherence to site requirements and standards. Managing paid time off requests and timecards for all custodial staff (review, edit as needed, and approve timesheets) Provide leadership to custodial staff, conducting performance reviews, offering constructive feedback, and facilitating ongoing training. Participate in the recruitment, interviewing, and onboarding of new custodial team members.
- Operational Management: Develop and implement efficient custodial procedures to ensure the cleanliness and maintenance of facilities. Collaborate with administrative personnel to plan, prioritize, and schedule custodial activities. Supervise and inspect properties to ensure defined cleanliness standards are consistently met.
- Training And Development: Conduct various training sessions for custodial staff, covering chemical usage, equipment operation, health, and safety. Ensure the training of proper use of cleaning solutions, equipment, and safety protocols.
- Supply Management: Order and distribute custodial supplies and equipment, maintaining accurate inventory records.
- Communication And Customer Service: Respond to inquiries from staff, students, parents, and visitors, taking appropriate action or referring issues to the relevant personnel.
- Backup Support: Serve as a backup for the Director Of Custodial Services during their absence.
- Promote A Positive Work Environment: Foster a positive working environment to reduce absenteeism and turnover. Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent, plus 3 years of job-related experience Bilingual (English/Spanish oral and written) Prior supervisory experience and skills Knowledge of custodial cleaning best practices Valid driver's license and reliable transportation Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines Proficient in Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite and relevant software Ability to operate job-related tools and equipment Effective problem-solving skills, including interpreting written, oral, diagram, or schedule instructions and applying initiative in non-standard situations Strong interpersonal skills; able to work respectfully, professionally, and compassionately with diverse individuals and groups Ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively with management, staff, and the community Knowledge of community diversity and cultural dynamics Commitment to fostering a respectful and inclusive environment Ability to pass a background check and drug screening
Preferred Qualifications: Previous experience in the education sector

This job operates in a professional office environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to move chairs, vacuum, and clean restrooms. The employee will also be required to lift up to 40 pounds without assistance. The position also requires the ability to stand for up to eight hours per shift. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may frequently be exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The employee is directly responsible for safety, well-being, and work output. This job also requires regular talking and hearing. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, such as the ability to read handwritten or typed material and adjust focus. In addition, the position involves distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception vision abilities. The position requires the individual to meet multiple demands from several people and interact with other staff.
