Controller

An established and growing company in San Marcos is seeking an experienced Controller to oversee day-to-day accounting operations and support the organization’s financial health. The ideal candidate has a well-rounded accounting background, prior leadership experience, and the ability to balance hands-on accounting responsibilities with financial oversight and strategic support.Responsibilities:- Oversee general ledger accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and cash management- Manage month-end and year-end closing processes- Prepare and review financial statements, balance-sheet reconciliations, and management reports- Develop and monitor budgets, forecasts, and cash-flow projections- Maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards- Analyze financial performance and provide meaningful insights to company leadership- Coordinate annual audits, tax preparation, and other regulatory reporting- Supervise, train, and support accounting team members- Improve accounting procedures, reporting processes, and operational efficiency- Partner with department leaders to support budgeting and financial decision-making- Maintain relationships with external accountants, auditors, financial institutions, and vendorsQualifications:- 5–8 years of progressive accounting experience- Previous experience as a Controller, Assistant Controller, Accounting Manager, or similar role- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, budgeting, and internal controls- Experience managing month-end and year-end close- Prior supervisory or team-lead experience- Microsoft Excel skills- Experience with ERP or accounting software- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field preferred- CPA or CMA certification is a plus but not required- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with senior leadershipEqual Opportunity Employer / Disabled / Protected VeteransThe Know Your Rights poster is available here:The pay transparency policy is available here:For temporary assignments lasting 13 weeks or longer, AppleOne is pleased to offer major medical, dental, vision, 401k and any statutory sick pay where required.We are committed to working with and providing reasonable accommodations to individuals with disabilities.
