The TTUHSC School of Medicine, Department of Pediatrics in the Permian Basin specializes in health care for children of all ages. Our faculty physicians are committed to delivering high quality health care to children, as well as excellence in medical education.
The TTUHSC Permian Basin Pediatric Residency is a new program based in Midland, Texas beginning in 2028, designed to address critical pediatric care shortages by training residents in general pediatrics and subspecialties such as critical care, behavioral developmental, neonatology, adolescent medicine and endocrinology. Supported by a community investment, the program focuses on comprehensive, high-quality care with a focus on rural health.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate, diagnose and treat gastrointestinal, liver and nutritional disorders in children and adolescents;
- Perform specialized diagnostic and therapeutic procedures;
- Manage feeding tubes and intravenous nutrition;
- Provide high quality patient care in both hospital and clinic settings;
- Collaborate as a part of a multidisciplinary team; and
- Participate in the education of students and residents.
Qualifications
- MD/DO/MBBS;
- Completion of the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) Step 3;
- Completed, or in the process of completing, an ACGME accredited residency;
- Completed, or in process of completing, a fellowship in pediatric gastroenterology.

Pay
Compensation is commensurate upon the qualifications of the individual selected and budgetary guidelines of the hiring department, as well as the institutional pay plan. For additional information, please reference the institutional pay plan website at

Visa Information
TTUHSC, at its sole discretion, may initiate new H-1B I-129 visa petitions in accordance with the directive issued by Governor Abbott. Approval from the Texas Workforce Commission is required. On a limited, case-by-case basis, the institution may also sponsor eligible individuals for change‑of‑status or change‑of‑employer petitions for qualifying positions. TTUHSC will not pay the $100,000 fee, if applicable.
