Building Custodian/GroundskeeperDepartment: Plant Facilities OperationsLocation: Osage Beach, MOType: Part-TimePay: $16.50 per hourApplicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available for this position.Job Summary: The Custodian/Groundskeeper is responsible for keeping facilities and outdoor areas clean, safe, and well-maintained. This position performs routine grounds maintenance, cleaning, and basic building upkeep, including basic repairs, and grounds care with a proactive approach to facility upkeep.Essential FunctionsPerform lawn care including mowing, trimming, edging, and weed eatingPlant, water, weed, and prune flowers, shrubs, and treesRemove leaves, debris, and litter from outdoor areasMaintain walkways, parking lots, and outdoor common spacesOperate and maintain landscaping equipment (mowers, trimmers, blowers)Perform seasonal tasks such as snow removal (less than 2 inches) and salting walkwaysPerform basic maintenance tasks (changing light bulbs, minor repairs)Identify and report larger repair needs to supervisors or contractorsInspect and maintain safety equipment (exit signs, fire extinguishers, alarms—reporting issues as needed)Clean and sanitize restrooms, break rooms, offices, and common areasSweep, mop, vacuum, and maintain floors throughout the facilityEmpty trash and restock restroom and cleaning suppliesDust surfaces, furniture, vents, and fixturesKeep high-traffic areas presentableClean windows, mirrors, and glass doorsRestock supplies such as soap, paper towels, and toilet paperRequired Core Competencies and Professional Experience:Ability to fluently read, write, and understand the English language.Proficiency with the following, but not limited to: active listening; speaking; writing; critical thinking; judgment and decision making; monitoring; reading comprehension; time management; coordination; and management of personnel resources.Working knowledge of web-based technologies, including database systems.Practice superior customer service.Ability to work independently and in a team environment, with or without direct supervision.Excellent communication, interpersonal, customer service, and organizational skills.Successfully complete all Human Resources, Technology Services, and other departmental annual training as needed.Display respect and civility to all constituencies regardless of method of communication.Fulfill additional responsibilities as assigned.Attend work timely and on a regular basis during the established hours of operation; work additional hours as business necessitates.Preferred Core Competencies and Professional Experience:High School diploma or completion of High School equivalent certification.Required Level of Education:NoneRequired Professional Certification(s):NonePreferred Level of Education:High School diploma or completion of High School equivalent certification.Other Requirements:Ability to satisfy, within the parameters set by the College and consistent with applicable federal, state and local laws, a criminal background check as a condition of employment.Special Requirements (if any):Valid Missouri Driver License.Must meet and maintain requirements as an approved driver for Columbia College.Ability to work a schedule that is primarily days, but will include some evenings and weekends.Physical Requirements:The physical requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
