Job Description Ohio Department of Public Safety – Bureau of Motor Vehicles/Registration Support Services Report in Location: 1970 West Broad Street, Columbus, OH 43223 Work Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. THIS POSITION REPORTS INTO THE OFFICE 5 DAYS A WEEK What You’ll Do as a Customer Service Assistant 2 Respond to inquiries, requests for information, or complaints that require in‑depth knowledge of applicable laws, rules, policies, and procedures. Greet and respond to in‑person, telephone, or written inquiries in a professional, courteous, friendly, respectful, and timely manner to ensure positive internal and/or external customer service. Listen carefully to internal and external customers’ questions or concerns and ask appropriate follow‑up questions to verify understanding. Provide a complete, knowledgeable, accurate, and precise response immediately or provide a firm commitment as to when a response will be provided. Follow‑up to ensure all of the customer’s questions and concerns have been thoroughly answered. Access Business Application Services System (BASS) for the issuance of various vehicle registration types (e.g., Historical, Collector, Senior, Commercial Radio, etc.). Qualifications 9 months of training or 9 months of experience in office practices and procedures; AND 9 months of training or 9 months of experience in public relations or customer service that included techniques for handling difficult people; AND 9 months of training or 9 months of experience in typing, keyboarding, data entry or word processing; AND 9 months of training or 9 months of experience in operation of personal computer. OR equivalent of Minimum Qualifications for Employment noted above. Supplemental Information UNUSUAL WORKING CONDITIONS May be confined to a desk answering telephone for 6.5 – 7 hours per day; may work second or third shift and weekends in units with 24 hour/7 days per week operations. A BCI/FBI fingerprint check and background check may be required on all selected applicants.
