Our 8-week career training programs provide participants with the skills needed to be successful on any job. Our training focuses on individual development, Personal Empowerment, Career Training, and the 21st Century Skills that today's employers are looking for. Graduates of this program typically double or triple their annual income. Our career coaches help participants develop a career plan while providing them with the resources and placement connections needed to achieve their goals. Employers hire TCR graduates because they value that TCR graduates apply their Personal Empowerment skills leading to accountability, responsibility, conflict resolution, positive interaction, attendance, and long-term change. They also know TCR graduates receive continued coaching services through the end of the first year of employment and that over 70% of TCR graduates stay at their job 1+ years, well above the general average. Our Personal Empowerment Training curriculum provides transformative Emotional Intelligence training through The Empowerment Institute. In addition to serving TCR participants, the Institute partners with businesses, schools, universities, and nonprofits to help them create empowered cultures within their organizations. JOB TITLE: Finance Manager DEPARTMENT: Business Operations LOCATION: Minneapolis REPORT TO: Vice President of Business Operations POSITION STATUS: Full-Time Hybrid SCHEDULE: 32 Hours Per Week FLSA STATUS: Exempt JOB PURPOSE The Finance Manager serves as Twin Cities R!SE's lead internal finance professional and is responsible for the day-to-day management of accounting operations, financial reporting and forecasting, grant administration, payroll oversight, internal controls, audit preparation, and finance administration. The Finance Manager reports to the Vice President of Business Operations, supervises the Staff Accountant, and partners with cross-functional leaders, external auditors, and the Finance Committee to ensure accurate financial reporting, sound stewardship of organizational resources, and compliance with nonprofit accounting standards. This is an exciting opportunity for a finance professional who enjoys both operational excellence and strategic partnership. Twin Cities R!SE has a mature finance function with established processes, strong controls, a successful audit history, and experienced staff. This role offers the opportunity to elevate financial literacy across the organization by translating complex financial information into practical insights and equipping leaders to make thoughtful, data-informed decisions. This role focuses on continued excellence in execution, continuous improvement, and supporting organizational decision-making. The Finance Manager will help strengthen reporting, forecasting, financial planning, and business processes while ensuring TCR remains a strong steward of public, philanthropic, and participant-centered investments. As part of TCR's commitment to accountability and transparency, recent annual reports, audited financial statements, and IRS Form 990 filings are available on TCR’s Reports & Financials page for candidates who would like additional insight into the organization's financial structure and stewardship practices. This position is designed as a 32-hour-per-week exempt role with flexibility throughout the year. Workload may increase during year-end close, budgeting, quarterly forecasting, audit, and Board reporting cycles and be lighter during other periods. PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Lead Twin Cities R!SE's finance function, overseeing accounting operations, payroll, financial reporting, cash management, reconciliations, and month-end and year-end close activities. Supervise the Staff Accountant while fostering a collaborative, service-oriented finance team focused on professional growth. Prepare and analyze financial statements, forecasts, budgets, dashboards, and management reports to support leadership and Finance Committee decision-making. Partner with organizational leaders to provide financial guidance, budgeting support, forecasting, and business insights. Manage grant and restricted-fund financial activities, ensuring accurate reporting, compliance, and stewardship of resources. Manage government grant budgets, compliance, reporting reimbursements, reconciliations, audits, and funder requirements while partnering with program staff to ensure accurate and allowable spending. Coordinate annual audit activities, support Form 990 preparation, and maintain compliance with nonprofit accounting standards and regulatory requirements. Strengthen internal controls, financial policies, systems, and reporting tools to support organizational effectiveness and accountability. Lead continuous improvement initiatives that enhance finance processes, reporting, efficiency, and organizational decision-making. SUPERVISION Supervises TCR's Staff Accountant. COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS Salary Range: $69,500 to $92,700 annually at 0.80 FTE, depending on qualifications. MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field. Five or more years of progressive nonprofit accounting or finance experience. Supervisory experience or demonstrated ability to lead staff. PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE CPA, CMA, MBA, or equivalent coursework. Experience with Form 990 processes. Experience with grant-funded environments. Experience with Salesforce or integrated financial systems. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Strong knowledge of and skills in GAAP, nonprofit accounting principles, grant compliance, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial operations. Experience leading audit preparation, internal controls, Form 990 support, reconciliations, and month-end and year-end close processes. Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify trends, risks, and opportunities and translate findings into actionable recommendations. Ability to prepare and communicate accurate, meaningful financial statements, reports, dashboards, forecasts, and management insights for both financial and non-financial audiences. Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to supervise, coach, and develop staff while fostering accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Strong relationship-building, communication, and emotional intelligence skills, including the ability to work effectively across diverse teams, communication styles, and organizational levels. Experience managing multiple priorities, projects, and deadlines while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail. Proficiency with accounting systems, Microsoft 365, financial reporting tools, data analysis technologies, and the responsible use of emerging technologies, including AI, in a business environment. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to perform the essential duties of the position with or without reasonable accommodation. Ability to use a PC/laptop, requiring repetitive motion of fingers, hands, and wrists. Required to occasionally move about an office environment to access file cabinets, printers, etc., and remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time. Ability to move about the community. Ability to lift light materials and equipment in the typical office environment (up to 15 pounds). Ability to be on video call for all meetings. WORK ENVIRONMENT: This is an exempt position designed to average approximately 32 hours per week over the course of the year. Workload and scheduling needs will vary based on business demands and key finance cycles. During peak periods, additional hours may be required, while other periods may require fewer hours. The position offers flexibility in how work hours are scheduled, provided job responsibilities and organizational needs are met. Location/structure of work: Position is hybrid; employee will be expected to work in the TCR office for leadership meetings and other colleague collaboration, approximately weekly (welcome to work in the office daily but not required).
