About This Role The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Operating Room (OR) is responsible for delivering and ensuring patient care by assessing and diagnosing conditions, developing care plans, and evaluating patient responses. What You'll Do Develop and evaluate plan of care. Systematically assess patient's knowledge base and health through interviews and examinations. Consult with multidisciplinary health care team regarding nursing assessment findings. Create individualized plan of care based on patient problems and input from the care team. Communicate changes in patient status to appropriate care team members. Provide and/or delegate patient care according to established protocols. Conduct clinical rounds and administer medications to patients. Perform procedures and treatments including changing dressings and providing pre/post-operative care. Document patient care on appropriate forms and charts. Identify patients' learning needs and develop teaching plans. Requirements Education: Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing; Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred. Experience: Minimum 1 year OR experience preferred. Licenses & Certifications: Current license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State. BCLS, ACLS or PALS required. Must be enrolled in an accredited program within 24 months of employment if hired after September 1, 2010, and obtain a BSN degree within five years of employment date.
