Senior Behavioral Health Unit Registered Nurse (RN)

This is a 13-week contract position.

Nights, 6:45 PM - 7:15 AM

The Senior Behavioral Health Unit Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing comprehensive behavioral health evaluations and implementing nursing care for assigned patients. This role involves planning and documenting care, assisting nursing peers, and collaborating with physicians during examinations and procedures. The RN will promote patient independence by setting care goals and educating patients and families about conditions, medications, and self-care practices.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct behavioral health evaluations of assigned patients.
• Plan, implement, and document nursing care in compliance with established policies.
• Assist nursing peers and support physicians during examinations and procedures.
• Administer medications and perform various patient tests within the RN scope of practice.
• Teach patients and families self-care skills and educate on medications and conditions.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure:

• Minimum of 1 year of experience in a Senior Behavioral Health or Geriatric Psychiatric Unit.
• BLS Certification required.
• De-escalation training (Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) or SAMA) is required; willingness to obtain additional training if necessary.
• Recent experience (within the last year) in an acute care hospital setting.
