Title: Staff Psychologist Division: Student Affairs Department: Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) FLSA Status: Exempt Salary Range: $72,000 Annual Salary EEO Job Group: 2 E2 Location: Evansville, Indiana, United States Position Summary Under the supervision of the Director of Counseling and Psychological Services, this staff psychologist provides direct mental health services to eligible students. The role maintains a limited caseload while supervising advanced practicum trainees and delivers psychoeducation, diagnostic assessments, crisis management, treatment planning, and evidence‑based individual and group interventions, all documented in a timely manner. Services are consistent with established standards of care and legal and ethical guidelines. The psychologist collaborates with leadership to design and implement a doctoral practicum training program, coordinating weekly consults and didactic seminars, and overseeing trainee evaluation. Duties / Responsibilities Lead the development of the CAPS advanced doctoral practicum program, maintaining a cohort of three to four trainees from APA‑approved doctoral programs. Conduct diagnostic evaluations, clinical observation, and use psychometric instruments to assess mental health needs. Establish DSM diagnoses and develop client‑centered treatment plans within the developmental context of the student population. Provide evidence‑based individual and group interventions, both in‑person and via tele‑behavior health. Operate within a time‑limited psychotherapy model with a limited caseload. Document all clinical services promptly and according to professional standards. Assess risk, deliver timely crisis intervention, and coordinate higher‑level care as needed. Adhere to scope of practice consistent with education, training, experience, and legal standards. Maintain professional competence through workshops, conferences, certifications, and professional association membership. Offer outreach and mental health awareness programming to the university community. Provide regular and emergency consultation to faculty, staff, and other stakeholders. Perform specialized duties as assigned based on training and experience. The above list is not exhaustive; additional duties may be assigned. Required Knowledge and Skills Ph.D. or Psy.D. in clinical or counseling psychology from an APA‑approved doctoral program. APA‑approved pre‑doctoral internship; licensed to practice independently as a psychologist (HSPP) in Indiana or eligible for Indiana licensure. Experience managing trainee recruitment, selection, orientation, and evaluation processes. Clinical supervision of unlicensed staff and trainees. Proficiency in time‑limited individual therapy, crisis intervention, and group therapy in a university or comparable setting. Strong knowledge of legal, ethical, and professional standards, including supervision best practices. In‑depth knowledge of tele‑behavior health, including licensure limitations, ethical concerns, and confidentiality. Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills. Strong work ethic, collaborative mindset within the Counseling Center, Student Affairs, and the broader university community. Responsiveness to high demand for services while managing unexpected crises. Preferred Knowledge and Skills Prior experience coordinating or directing a university counseling center training program. Experience supervising graduate‑level clinical supervisees. Demonstrated leadership or supervision experience. Specialized skills working with specific student populations or presenting concerns. Experience relevant to substance abuse, group therapy, or supervising practica/internships, especially with underserved or under‑resourced populations. Basic computer skills; experience with Titanium Schedule is desirable. Functional Requirements Effective interpersonal communication with students, families, faculty, and staff, establishing rapport and confidentiality. Conflict, stress, and anger management; maintain professional demeanor in challenging situations. Skill in identifying situations requiring immediate action or intervention. Ability to remain seated at a workstation for extended periods during most duties. Computer proficiency: systems, data entry, retrieval, and document creation. Occasional physical access to other workstations and conference rooms for meetings or events. Regular Work Hours / Travel Requirements Standard office hours: Monday through Friday, 8:00 am–4:30 pm.
