Job Description

The Packaging Technician supports pharmaceutical production by assembling, filling, packaging, and labeling products in a clean room environment while strictly following cGMP, SOPs, and customer requirements. This role works on a first-shift schedule and involves both manual and automated operations, frequent use of computers for documentation and data entry, and regular work in refrigerated and freezer environments. The position requires strong attention to detail, consistent adherence to safety and quality standards, and the ability to perform repetitive tasks accurately and efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Apply current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and customer requirements in all assigned activities.

• Comply with all safety regulations and perform all tasks in a safe, efficient manner.

• Perform manual and automated assembly, manufacturing, filling, packaging, and labeling of pharmaceutical products while ensuring adherence to specifications and quality standards.

• Act as the primary performer of in-process inspections and Acceptable Quality Level (AQL) inspections to verify product quality.

• Accept or reject in-process clinical supplies and drug products based on inspection results and documented criteria.

• Perform computer-related tasks, including signing in to jobs, recording in-process actions, and entering data accurately into electronic systems.

• Participate in the start-up and closure of packaging jobs, ensuring all components, documentation, and equipment are properly prepared and reconciled.

• Perform counts of components and drug products to support accurate inventory control and batch accountability.

• Clean packaging rooms, equipment, and machinery in accordance with SOPs and GMP requirements.

• Read, comprehend, and execute the content of English work documents, including SOPs, work instructions, knowledge assessments, cGMP guidelines, and safety procedures.

• Interpret 2D diagrams and batch paperwork to ensure proper assembly and configuration of clinical supplies.

• Work both independently and as part of a team to complete assigned tasks and meet production timelines.

• Take initiative in identifying and completing tasks, follow through on commitments, and adapt to changing priorities or circumstances.

• Accept and learn from feedback, including feedback related to Corrective or Preventative Actions (CAPA), to continuously improve performance.

• Maintain compliance with gowning requirements and use of personal protective equipment (PPE) in clean room, refrigerated, and freezer environments.

Work Environment

This role operates on a first-shift schedule from 6:45 AM to 2:45 PM in a pharmaceutical manufacturing setting. The work takes place primarily in a clean room environment that requires full gowning, as well as in primary, secondary, refrigerated (2 to 8°C), and freezer (down to -20°C) areas. Candidates must be comfortable working in a freezer environment, with up to 80% of the day potentially spent in a freezer when required. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including filtering face masks, powered air-purifying respirators (PAPR), N-95 masks, half face masks, and safety glasses, is required to perform this role. Additional hourly differentials apply when working in PAPR/refrigerator areas and freezer environments. The facility emphasizes strict adherence to cGMP, SOPs, safety procedures, and clean room protocols, including gowning and controlled access, to maintain high standards of product quality and employee safety.

This is a Contract position based out of Allentown, PA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $17.25 - $19.84/hr.
