Registered Nurse Correctional

Job Summary:


The Registered Nurse in the Correctional setting is responsible for providing skilled nursing care to inmates, with a focus on medical/surgical needs. This role requires at least 2 years of recent acute care experience in Med/Surg and prior correctional experience. The nurse will perform patient assessments, medication administration, treatment planning, and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team while adhering to facility policies. Strong communication, flexibility to float within the facility, and the ability to work night shifts are essential.

Responsibilities:

• Provide skilled nursing care to inmates within a correctional facility.
• Perform patient assessments, medication administration, and treatment planning.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care.
• Float to other units within the facility as required to meet operational needs.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation using Cerner electronic charting system.
• Adhere to all correctional facility policies and procedures, including security protocols.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Active Registered Nurse license in the state of practice.
• Minimum of 2 years recent acute care experience in Medical/Surgical nursing.
• Correctional nursing experience is mandatory.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Ability to work night shifts (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM) on a 3x12-hour schedule.
• Valid driver's license with a mileage radius of up to 75 miles from the facility.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience with Cerner electronic medical record system.
• Additional certifications related to correctional or acute care nursing.

Special Considerations:

• Shift: 3 twelve-hour night shifts per week (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM).
• No block scheduling accommodations.
• Weekend work required every other weekend (2 weekends per month).
• Return to Office (RTO) policy: maximum 5 days per month, no more than 2 consecutive days, no RTO on holidays, weekends, or the day before/after a holiday.
• Mandatory float requirement within the facility to meet staffing needs.
• Scrub color: Navy Blue.
• Free parking available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Scheduling:

• Work schedule consists of three 12-hour night shifts per week (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM).
• Weekend shifts every other weekend (two weekends per month).
• No holiday work time off (RTO) allowed.
• Shift assignments and floating are at the discretion of the facility.
