About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Neuro Stepdown & EMU Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Required Certifications: BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Strong Neuro experience, history of caring for stroke patients, NIHSS in hand at time of submission Description: The position requires working in a Neuro Stepdown and EMU unit. The unit cares for higher acuity neuroscience patients, including those with strokes, seizures, and post-craniotomy care. Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:3 for Stepdown and 1:5-6 for the EMU. Registered Nurses are not required to have vent experience, and respiratory therapy is available 24/7. Titration of medications is done per physician orders, with education provided regarding protocols that may allow titration. Registered nurses are responsible for patient monitoring, and there are designated aides available per shift. The position requires flexibility with scheduling, including working weekends and holidays. Nurses will be expected to work into the holiday rotation. Additional responsibilities may include floating to other units as necessary. The charting system in use is EPIC.
