PathGroup Pathology Opportunity
PathGroup is seeking an AP/CP Board-Certified or Board-Eligible Pathologist with subspecialty training or strong experience in Cytopathology to join our high-volume, collaborative pathology team in Greenville, South Carolina. This full-time role offers a strong emphasis on cytopathology while maintaining a required general surgical pathology component within a large, subspecialty-supported practice environment.
There is an opportunity to take on increased responsibility within cytopathology over time, including potential future leadership duties.
Highlights:
- Primary focus on cytopathology cases (gynecologic and non-gynecologic)
- General surgical pathology sign-out is a required part of the position
- No autopsy requirement
- No grossing responsibilities (dedicated Pathologist Assistants onsite)
- No cytology screening responsibilities (supported by cytotechnologists)
- Participation in ROSE and EBUS coverage on a scheduled rotation
- Frozen section coverage shared across surgical pathologists
- Strong internal subspecialty consultation support

About The Practice:
- Large, reputable healthcare system with a well-established team of AP/CP pathologists
- Broad case mix across all subspecialties in a high-volume environment
- Additional support from forensic pathologists and a CP-only blood bank pathologist
- Call schedule approximately 4 weeks per year, evenly distributed among full-time pathologists

Key Responsibilities:
- Cytopathology sign-out including gynecologic, non-gynecologic, and FNA specimens
- General surgical pathology sign-out as part of routine responsibilities
- Participation in ROSE, EBUS coverage, and frozen section services
- Contribution to interdisciplinary clinical discussions and tumor boards
- Engagement in lab quality assurance and CAP compliance initiatives
- Participation in shared practice responsibilities beyond slide sign-out
Qualifications:
- Medical Degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution
- AP/CP Board Certification or Board Eligibility
- Board Certification or Eligibility in Cytopathology preferred
- Eligible for South Carolina medical license
- Comfortable working in a high-volume environment
- Strong diagnostic, communication, and teamwork skills
- Positive, collaborative attitude with a strong work ethic and initiative
