Job Description
This role involves performing basic MIG and TIG welding on stainless steel and aluminum in a clean, production-based fabrication environment. You will prepare and weld thin metals according to simple drawings and measurements, inspect your own work for quality and fit, and support custom HVAC and sheet metal assemblies. The position includes hands-on training, opportunities to gain additional certifications, and close collaboration with assemblers and fabricators on the production floor.
Responsibilities

• Perform basic MIG and TIG welding on stainless steel and aluminum after completing on-the-job training.
• Prepare joints by cleaning, fitting, and aligning materials according to simple drawings and measurements.
• Use tape measures, hand tools, and other measurement devices to ensure parts meet specifications.
• Inspect your own welds for quality, accuracy, and proper fit within custom assemblies.
• Work closely with assemblers, fabricators, and leads to keep production moving efficiently.
• Assist with general fabrication tasks, including grinding, deburring, fitting, and material handling.
• Follow all shop safety procedures and maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Apply basic mechanical knowledge to understand how heat affects thin metals and adjust techniques accordingly.
• Participate in an onsite welding exam administered by leadership to demonstrate welding ability.
• Support light industrial production and sheet metal fabrication as needed to meet production goals.

Essential Skills

• Basic MIG welding experience on stainless steel and aluminum or the ability to learn through training.
• Basic TIG welding experience on stainless steel and aluminum or the ability to learn through training.
• Ability to work cleanly and precisely on thin metals, with an understanding of how heat affects each material.
• Ability to prep joints properly, including cleaning, fitting, and aligning materials before welding.
• Ability to read and follow simple drawings and blueprints.
• Proficiency using measurement tools such as tape measures to verify dimensions and fit.
• Mechanical aptitude and comfort working with hand tools and basic mechanical systems.
• Ability to inspect one's own work for weld quality, accuracy, and proper fit within assemblies.
• Strong work ethic, reliability, and eagerness to learn new skills.
• Willingness and ability to complete an onsite welding exam administered by leadership.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Education or training in trades such as HVAC, pipe fitting, electrical, fabrication, or welding, including recent school graduates.
• Experience in light industrial production or fabrication environments.
• Familiarity with sheet metal fabrication and fitting.
• Experience working in a production, fabrication, or mechanical setting.
• Interest in obtaining certifications in forklift, rigging, and overhead crane operations, which will be provided and paid for during work hours.
• Comfort working collaboratively with assemblers, fabricators, and production teams.

Work Environment
The role is based in a clean, 66,500-square-foot production facility focused on fabrication and light industrial work. Music is allowed and encouraged on the production floor, creating a positive and energetic atmosphere. The site includes a cafeteria with vending machines and concession areas for convenient breaks. Employees use company-provided tools and are required to use these tools while working. Personal protective equipment, except for safety shoes, is provided. The environment is described as friendly and welcoming, with a strong emphasis on safety, cleanliness, and teamwork across the production and fabrication areas.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Randolph, MA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $26.00/hr.
