Adjunct Professor of Business Writing

Seton Hall University seeks adjunct instructors to teach sections of our Business Writing classes. This course is designed to familiarize students with the tools and techniques necessary to become effective business communicators, with a special emphasis on business writing competencies and critical thinking. Professors of this course will instruct how to compose workplace writings such as emails, memos, business letters, reports, proposals, resumes, presentations, and data analysis. Key learning objectives in this course are audience awareness, analysis, grammar, syntax, format, organization, and presentation. At the end of the course, students will be familiar with the business library resources and the career center and will have an understanding and an ability to communicate effectively in the world of business. Duties and Responsibilities Creating lesson plans Teaching 1-2 classes a week Holding office hours each week for students Grading and reviewing student work and exams Attending orientation and corresponding with the business writing coordinator, Prof. Gregory Iannarella Required Qualifications Experience teaching composition in a college or university setting At minimum, an MA in a related field CV and letter of interest required to apply Statement of teaching philosophy recommended Course evaluations from a composition class recommended Up to three letters of reference recommended Desired Qualifications Experience in the business world is preferred; MBA/PhD preferred. Salary Range Minimum pay is $1200 per credit for those without a terminal degree and $1300 per credit for those with a terminal degree.
