Universal Stainless & Alloy Products, Inc., established in 1994, is headquartered in Bridgeville, PA, with plants in North Jackson, OH, Dunkirk, NY, and Titusville, PA. Universal Stainless produces semi-finished and finished specialty steel long products and plate including stainless steel, tool steel, bearing steel, gear steel, and aircraft quality low alloy steels for use in a variety of industries. The Electrician is responsible for performing electrical maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and installation throughout the mill. This position supports the safe and reliable operation of plant production equipment and electrical systems.

Basic Responsibilities:

• Perform electrical maintenance and repair work throughout the mill.

• Maintain, inspect, repair, and replace electrical components, equipment, and systems.

• Maintain and replace motor bearings as required.

• Maintain control panels, switches, wiring, and related electrical components.

• Maintain, inspect, and repair electrical breakers.

• Inspect transformers and identify potential electrical issues.

• Perform general electrical maintenance within assigned areas.

• Troubleshoot and repair electrical and electromechanical equipment.

• Perform electromechanical rebuilds of plant production equipment.

• Interpret electrical blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.

• Assist with the installation of new equipment and relocation of existing equipment.

• Operate overhead cranes and/or forklifts to safely move electrical supplies, tools, and equipment as trained and authorized.

• Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area.

• Follow established safety procedures, work instructions, and electrical safety practices.

• Work cooperatively with maintenance, manufacturing, and other plant personnel.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

Safety-Sensitive Position

THIS IS A SAFETY-SENSITIVE POSITION. PROPER USE OF ALL REQUIRED PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT (PPE) IS MANDATORY.

Employees must follow all company safety procedures and PPE requirements for their assigned work area.

Employees must be willing and able to comply with all required PPE, safety procedures, and work practices.

Work Environment:

• Work is performed in a manufacturing environment around industrial equipment, electrical systems, machinery, steel products, and materials.

• Employees may work in different manufacturing areas based on operational needs.

• Employees may work around energized electrical equipment, moving machinery, heavy materials, and industrial processes.

• Ability to work safely in a manufacturing environment is required.

• Employees may be required to work extended shifts, overtime, weekends, and varying schedules based on operational needs.

Skills:

• Ability to interpret electrical blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.

• Strong electrical troubleshooting and analytical skills.

• Working knowledge of basic mechanical and electrical systems.

• Ability to diagnose and repair electrical and electromechanical equipment.

• Ability to safely use electrical testing equipment and hand tools.

• Ability to work independently with limited supervision.

• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

• Strong work ethic and reliable attendance.

• Ability to work cooperatively with maintenance and production personnel.

• Ability to maintain a safe and organized work area.

• Welding or tack-welding skills preferred.

Experience:

• Previous electrical experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment required.

• Experience troubleshooting and repairing industrial electrical equipment preferred.

• Experience with electrical control panels, switches, wiring, breakers, and transformers preferred.

• Experience with electromechanical equipment and industrial machinery preferred.

Education/Training:

• Two-year post-high school education from a vocational technical school or equivalent electrical training required.

• Must successfully receive a passing score on the Ramsey RR47-A test and applicable test stand.

• Must demonstrate electrical knowledge through a review/walk-through of electrical prints.

• Must have working knowledge of basic mechanical and electrical systems.

• Additional on-the-job training will be provided as required.

Supervision:

• Generally, works independently and is not closely supervised.

• Position reports to the Maintenance Supervisor.

Tools & Equipment:

• Electrical repair tools.

• Volt meters and electrical testing equipment.

• Hand tools including wrenches, pliers, screwdrivers, and related tools.

• Sledges, jacks, rope, and rope blocks.

• Soldering equipment and torches.

• Armature testing equipment and magnetos.

• Other electrical, mechanical, and maintenance equipment as required.

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to safely work around electrical equipment, industrial machinery, and steel products.

• Must be able to stand, walk, bend, reach, and work in a manufacturing environment for extended periods.

• Must be able to safely use hand tools and electrical testing equipment.

• Must be able to work at heights and in various positions as required for electrical maintenance.

• Must be able to wear required PPE for assigned work areas.

• Must be able to work extended shifts and overtime as required.

Schedule:

• Full-time hourly position.

• 6:00am-4:00pm Monday-Saturday

• Start times may be flexible based on department and operational needs.

• Overtime is required as needed.

• Work schedules may reach up to 72 hours per week based on operational requirements.

• Flexibility to work in different areas and departments is required.
