Rapid Response Respiratory Therapist - FT Nights - Jefferson Hwy

Job Overview This position provides respiratory care treatment, oxygen services, diagnostic testing, and ventilation support to in‑patients and out‑patients ranging from neonatal to geriatric ages. Responsibilities include monitoring and weaning oxygen therapy and artificial ventilation, drawing and analyzing arterial blood gases and EKGs, delivering intermittent therapy, assisting with changing artificial airways, and performing services ordered by a physician in accordance with established policies and procedures. Key Responsibilities Perform routine and advanced therapeutic procedures according to established policy and procedure. Review and document all clinical information regarding each patient. Educate patients and co‑workers on procedures and treatment plans. Perform diagnostic procedures. Provide care based on physical, psycho/social, educational, safety, and related criteria appropriate to the age of patient served in an assigned area. Maintain professional certifications and up‑to‑date knowledge of technical procedures. Attend staff meetings. Other related duties as required. Required Qualifications Education: Associate’s Degree. Work Experience: None required. Certifications: Current state license as a Respiratory Therapist; Certified Respiratory Therapist; Basic Life Support (BLS); Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) (only for therapists working in the NICU); Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) to be obtained within 90 days of hire. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Excellent computer skills for data entry and retrieval of patient information; proficiency with Windows applications and keyboard; effective verbal and written communication; ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals; strong analytical skills; strong interpersonal skills. Physical and Environmental Demands Requires very heavy work: occasional exertion of over 100 pounds, frequent over 50 pounds, constant over 20 pounds to move objects. Physical demands exceed those for sedentary work. Duties involve exposure to blood, body fluid, tissue and potential communicable diseases.
