Distribution Center Supervisor

FleetPride SupervisorDirectly supervises warehouse employees in the distribution center. Carries out supervisor responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Plans, directs, and coordinates all assigned functions in the area of responsibility. Responsible for personnel management, including hiring, training, performance management and compensation.Duties and responsibilities include pulling and organizing orders from warehouse by part number and quantity as directed by picking ticket in priority assigned. Orders may be customer orders, IBTs or returns (excess and vendor). Creates detailed schedule time lines to ensure all inbound and outbound shipments meet specifications. Develops and provides input on labor requirements needed. Packages, labels and ships customer orders by UPS, US Mail, bus, motor freight and local truck deliveries. Ensures all stock is pulled and loaded into the delivery vehicle with accompanying and necessary documents, in conjunction with delivery schedules maintaining a minimum accuracy rate of 99%. Trains new employees on the proper use and maintenance of equipment and facilities utilized in the performance of their job. Follows up to ensure results are achieved. Coordinates manpower requirements by increasing or decreasing personnel and overtime to meet changing conditions. Interfaces with other departments to ensure inbound and outbound deadlines are met. Develops a process plan including people, resources, equipment and floor space for each distribution receipt. Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet departmental schedules. Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of distribution center and its employees. Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems. Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve goals. Confers with other Supervisor(s) and Managers to coordinate activities of department. Reports machine and equipment malfunctions to maintenance personnel. Interprets company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations. Adheres to all safety procedures in the performance of job duties. Participates in the annual physical inventory. Weighs materials or products and records weight and other production data on tags and labels. Works on special projects as appointed by the warehouse manager. Assists with inventory control processes and procedures.Education and training preferred includes a bachelors degree in business or equivalent. Good computer skills, including database, spreadsheet, good working knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems (JDA, Manhattan, etc) are also preferred.Knowledge and experience required includes minimum 3 plus years of warehouse and supervisory experience. Strong leadership, communication and organizational skills are required. Effectively present information to customers, clients and other employees in 1 on 1 and small group settings.Skills and abilities include moderate physical effort and use or motor skills requiring manual dexterity. Regularly stand, walk and sit. On occasion lift, lower, carry product up to a max of 10 pounds by hand.Working conditions include a large open environment. Noise level is typically moderate. Lots of activity, workers and equipment constantly moving, which requires constant adherence to safety procedures and rules. OSHA approved steel-toed safety shoes required from the first day on the job.
