Medical Director of Women’s Health Primary Care

Position Title: Medical Director of Women’s Health Primary Care Location: University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) Reports to: Chief, Division of General Internal Medicine Application Deadline: Open to Fill Position Summary The UCSF Division of General Internal Medicine (DGIM) is seeking an experienced and dedicated physician leader to serve as Medical Director of the Women’s Health Primary Care practice. This role offers the opportunity to lead a well‑established ambulatory practice focused on comprehensive women’s health while contributing to UCSF’s mission to improve healthcare quality, access, and equity. The Medical Director will oversee clinical operations and provide leadership to a multidisciplinary team of physicians and advanced practice providers. The successful candidate will deliver high‑quality, patient‑centered care and contribute to the clinical, educational, and quality improvement missions of the division. The selected candidate will provide comprehensive ambulatory internal medicine care and may participate in teaching, scholarship, and clinical practice improvement within either the Clinician Teacher or Clinician Educator track. Key Responsibilities Clinical Care: Provide high‑quality, evidence‑based primary care with a focus on adult women’s health in an ambulatory setting. Leadership and Administration: Serve as Medical Director for the Women’s Health Primary Care practice, including oversight of approximately 12 physicians within a multidisciplinary team. Lead clinical operations, support provider development, and collaborate on strategic initiatives. Medical Education (as applicable): Teach and mentor medical students, residents, and fellows; contribute to curriculum development and educational innovation. Quality Improvement: Lead or participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care, clinical workflows, and health outcomes. Qualifications MD or DO degree from an accredited institution. Board Certification/Eligibility in Internal Medicine. Valid California medical license and DEA registration by the start date. Preferred Qualifications Experience in women’s health primary care. Interest or experience in quality improvement, practice innovation, or clinical operations. The minimum base salary range for this position is $114,100-$344,400. This position includes membership in the health sciences compensation plan which provides for eligibility for additional compensation. For positions that are 50% effort or less: See Table 2 for the salary range for this position.
