Serve as the primary communication source for the patient care unit. Complete clerical tasks including answering phones, managing records, and data entry using basic computer and keyboard skills. Ensure accurate documentation with clear handwriting and correct spelling, grammar, and arithmetic. Demonstrate professional telephone etiquette and positive interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills. Prioritize duties and multitask effectively; work both independently and as a team member. Operate and maintain equipment necessary for Unit Clerk functions, including staff pagers. Apply basic medical terminology and understand hospital protocols. Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate good judgment and decision-making abilities. Sit for extended periods and work efficiently under stressful conditions. Meet unit-specific criteria and requirements as directed.
