Key Responsibilities Leadership & Team Development Recruit, train, coach, and develop General Merchandise associates. Schedule and direct department personnel to meet customer and operational needs. Provide performance coaching, recognition, and corrective action when appropriate. Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and customer service excellence. Support succession planning and associate development initiatives. Customer Service Deliver exceptional customer service and promote a customer-first culture. Assist customers with product selection and department-related inquiries. Resolve customer concerns promptly and professionally. Maintain an inviting, organized, and customer-friendly shopping environment. Promote customer loyalty through positive interactions and service recovery. Department Operations Oversee daily operations of the General Merchandise Department. Ensure shelves, displays, endcaps, and promotional areas remain fully stocked and properly merchandised. Monitor inventory levels and order merchandise as needed. Maintain accurate pricing, tagging, and signage throughout the department. Ensure merchandise is stocked, rotated, and displayed according to company standards. Coordinate product receiving, replenishment, and inventory management activities. Merchandising & Sales Growth Execute company merchandising plans, seasonal programs, and promotional events. Maintain attractive displays that maximize product visibility and sales. Analyze sales performance and identify opportunities for growth. Ensure department presentation standards consistently support company objectives. Monitor market trends and customer buying patterns to optimize product assortment. Financial Management Manage department labor, expenses, inventory, and shrink. Monitor department financial performance and key performance indicators. Develop and execute action plans to achieve sales and profitability goals. Ensure efficient scheduling and labor utilization practices. Support inventory accuracy and effective stock management procedures. Safety & Compliance Maintain a safe working and shopping environment. Ensure compliance with company policies and operational standards. Support loss prevention and shrink reduction initiatives. Ensure associates follow all safety procedures and equipment guidelines. Maintain department cleanliness, organization, and safety standards. Adhere to all local, state, and federal regulations. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Strong leadership and team development skills. Excellent customer service and communication abilities. Knowledge of retail merchandising, inventory control, pricing, and promotional execution. Ability to analyze sales and operational reports. Strong planning, organizational, and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced retail environment. Proficiency with retail systems, inventory tools, and business technology.
