In this role, you’ll:Take on real responsibility for litigation and employment matters from day oneBuild the toolkit of a senior legal leader, from strategy and outside counsel management to budget ownership and executive presence, by owning the work, with direct mentorship from the VP, Legal.Gain significant visibility to the General Counsel and senior leadership on high-impact mattersAccess generalist growth opportunities (commercial contracting, product counseling, strategic work) to build broader exposureWhat You'll Do:Litigation DocketOwn the litigation docket (employment, commercial, and other matters) from intake through resolutionDirect outside counsel on strategy, discovery, motion practice, and settlementHandle appropriate matters in-houseLitigation Portfolio Strategy & ManagementTake on strategic and operational management of the litigation function, ensuring matters are appropriately prioritized and resourcedManage the function strategically: prioritization, outside counsel selection and performance, budgets, and reporting to senior leadershipEmployment Counseling & Gig Economy Workforce MattersCounsel HR and Operations on the full range of employment matters: performance, investigations, terminations, wage-and-hour, accommodationsBecome the company expert on independent contractor classification, gig economy workforce issues, and related policyBroader Legal Work (Generalist Growth Areas)Support commercial contracting and other business agreementsProvide product and operational counseling on new initiatives and evolving business modelsTake ownership of discrete projects in evolving areas of the businessWho You Are4-6+ years of legal experience, including at least 2 years of hands-on litigation work (discovery, motion practice, outside counsel management)Litigation experience from a firm, in-house, or governmentEmployment counseling experience is valued but not requiredExperience with independent contractor, gig economy, or worker classification issues is a plusExposure to additional practice areas (e.g., commercial contracts, corporate, real estate, product, or regulatory) is a plusJD from an accredited law schoolAdmitted and in good standing with at least one U.S. state barHybrid position with 3 days in office at our Spring Garden HQHow You WorkOwnership mentality: you see issues, you handle them Comfortable operating independently in a lean, fast-moving teamHard hat and a lunch pail mentality; with ability to think like a GC Strong judgment and the ability to translate legal risk into business decisionsCompensationGopuff pays employees based on market pricing and pay may vary depending on your location. The salary range below reflects what we’d reasonably expect to pay candidates. A candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, interview performance, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future. Exceptions may be made for exceptional individuals.
