Applicant lists may be screened more than once. New Mexico Department of Health's Turquoise Lodge Hospital is a facility that provides substance abuse treatment services to New Mexico residents. We specialize in medical detoxification, social rehabilitation services, and Intensive Outpatient services. Our Nursing Department plays an integral role in ensuring quality care is provided to those struggling with substance use to begin healing in a safe environment with compassion and kindness utilizing evidence-based practices, while supporting their transition to recovery programs throughout the greater New Mexico community. Employment may qualify for student loan forgiveness. Why does the job exist? This position will provide specialized nursing care for adult patients with chemical dependency and co-occurring disorders. Night Shifts; Wed (4 hours) and Thu, Fri, Sat (12 hours) How does it get done? Duties may include but are not limited to medication administration, taking patient vitals, addressing detox symptoms, daily documentation, electronic charting, patient education, implementing treatment plans, evaluating effectiveness of medications, and covering for charge nurse. All Applicants for this position must be licensed in accordance with the Nursing Practice Act 61-3-2 through 61-3-31 NMSA 1978 and 16.12.1 through 16.12.20 NMAC, as applicable. OR Eligibility for a temporary "Permit-to-Practice" issued for employment at a specific institution in New Mexico prior to obtaining a license. Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate will have experience:

• Working with patients with chemical dependency and co-occurring disorders;
• Developing and monitoring patient care plans;
• Electronic charting;
• Working with multidisciplinary team.

Must possess a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in New Mexico, or eligibility for such licensure in accordance with New Mexico requirements, or eligibility for a temporary license issued for employment at a specific institution in New Mexico and three (3) years of experience as it pertains to the essential duties and responsibilities of the classification. Employment Requirements This position is designated a safety sensitive. Employment is subject to pre-employment and random testing, in accordance with all terms and conditions of federal and state law, rules and regulations in relation to alcohol and/or drug testing. Employment is subject to nationwide criminal background check and is conditional pending results. Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification as a condition of continued employment. Successful completion of Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) training. You must include your license or certificate number in the "License" section of the application form. Working Conditions Work is performed in a rehabilitation hospital setting. Long periods of walking, sitting, standing, bending and lifting up to fifty (50) pounds may be required. May be exposed to potentially violent patients in a volatile situation. Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. May be required to work weekends, holidays and overtime.
