RN-Advanced Practice Nurse - ICU

Overview Kaweah Health is a publicly owned, community healthcare organization serving the greater Visalia area in central California, with 5,000 employees and eight campuses offering comprehensive health services. Our eight‑campus healthcare district has 613 beds and provides state‑of‑the‑art medicine across a broad continuum of care. Eligibility & Shift Full‑time benefit eligible. Work shift: day, 8‑hour or less. Department: Nursing Professional Development. Qualifications CA RN license and CA Advanced Practice Nurse license (e.g., Clinical Nurse Specialist [CNS] or Nurse Practitioner [NP]) BLS certification Three years of recent experience in a specialty clinical area Excellent written and oral communication skills, critical and creative thinking If assigned to NICU: at least three years of neonatal nursing experience, one year in a facility with an NICU equivalent to a Regional (Level III) or Community (Level II), and NICU certification preferred. Job Responsibilities Demonstrate knowledge of Joint Commission standards, California Nursing Practice Act, Title 22 and 16, federal regulations (including HIPAA), and national specialty standards. Use assessment and evidence‑based practice to design, implement, and evaluate patient‑care plans within the specialty area. Assess and intervene in complex health‑care problems, manage populations with disease and non‑disease states, and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team on complex patients. Design, implement, and evaluate innovative individual and population‑based programs to achieve high‑quality, cost‑effective outcomes. Serve as a leader, consultant, mentor, and change agent, promoting staff development, education, coaching, and evidence‑based interventions. Utilize PDSA and clinical inquiry for performance improvement, evidence‑based policy development, and participation in journal clubs and multidisciplinary groups. Select and evaluate technology, products, and devices appropriate to the specialty area. Stay current with literature and collaborate with research consultants to publish findings and improve practice. NICU Responsibilities (if assigned) Direct clinical nursing practice in the NICU and coordinate critical‑care education and competency development. Ensure neonatal critical‑care competence through educational programs, consult staff on complex cases, and provide parent or caretaker education. Implement discharge planning and other NICU‑specific duties. Specialty Service Line Duties Collaborate with the Nursing Director to manage strategy and marketing for the specialty, coordinate referral relationships, assist in budget management, facilitate problem solving across departments, and represent the specialty at events.
