More about our team Our 60-bed Medical Surgical unit spans two floors, where our team delivers high-quality, patient-centered care using the nursing process in alignment with established scope and standards of practice. This role reports directly to the Department Director or Manager. How you'll contribute A Medical Surgical RN who excels in this role: * Performs duties as assigned and requested. * Completes focused patient assessments and reassessments based on patient's condition, procedures, medications, and treatments. * Adequately assesses and reassesses pain; utilizes appropriate pain management techniques. * Provides patient care and communicates effectively with patients of all ages and with specific needs. * Demonstrates knowledge of medications and ensures correct administration following the six rights to minimize medication errors. * Assists physicians with procedures and provides services requiring technical and manual skills. * Performs treatments and delivers care within licensure scope. * Ensures patient safety by performing all aspects of care in an environment that reduces the likelihood of errors. * Operates and manages equipment safely and correctly. * Educates patients and families on disease processes and recovery expectations. * Participates in performance improvement and continuing education. * Provides quality patient care and works flexible shifts/units as needed. * Maintains regular and reliable attendance. * Performs other duties as assigned. What we're looking for Applicants should have a current state or compact state RN license and possess an associate's degree from an accredited nursing school. Additional requirements include: * Certifications: AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) required. Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), NRP, Handle with Care, preferred within one year of hire. * Experience: One-year previous experience preferred * Licenses: Must have a current state or compact state RN license. * Education: Associate's degree required. BSN preferred.
