Site Safety and Health Officer

$100,000 to $130,000 + Comprehensive Benefits Package We are representing a well-established general contractor with a strong track record on federal construction projects, in their search for a Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO) to join a roof repair project in Washington, DC. This firm is known for holding safety to the highest standard on occupied federal facilities while genuinely valuing the people who make that possible. This is a full-time position with the authority and autonomy to run project safety from the ground up, on a high-visibility federal jobsite. The Role: As SSHO, you will implement, administer, and enforce the project-specific Accident Prevention Plan (APP) and Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs), serving as the contractor's competent person for safety. You'll be present on-site whenever construction activities are underway, holding full authority to stop work when unsafe conditions or practices are identified. Responsibilities include: Implement and enforce the approved Accident Prevention Plan Develop, review, and maintain Activity Hazard Analyses for all phases of work Conduct daily safety inspections of work areas, equipment, tools, and access routes Lead daily pre-task safety meetings and weekly toolbox talks Monitor roofing operations for fall protection compliance and verify proper PPE use Maintain site safety documentation, training records, and inspection logs Coordinate with the Contracting Officer, Government Safety Representative, and Building Manager on all project safety matters Investigate incidents, near misses, and property damage events, and prepare written reportsMaintain full authority to suspend or stop work involving unsafe acts or conditions What We're Looking For: Minimum 5 years of progressive construction safety experience Current OSHA 30-Hour Construction Certification and OSHA Competent Person Training Strong working knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR 1926 Construction Standards EM 385-1-1 Construction Safety Hazard Awareness Course for Constructors USACE CQM for Contractors CertificationExperience preparing and implementing Accident Prevention Plans and AHAs CHST (Construction Health and Safety Technician) certification CSP (Certified Safety Professional) certification Experience on federal construction projects Experience working on occupied facilities What's in It for You: Competitive base salary ranging from $100,000 to $130,000, depending on experience Full authority on jobsite safety decisions, including stop-work authority The chance to lead safety on a high-profile federal facility project Long-term stability with a growing, well-established federal contractor Interviews are being scheduled, so if you're interested in learning more, please get in touch as soon as possible at View phone number on click.appcast.io or send your resume to View email address on click.appcast.io. #J-18808-Ljbffr
