CORRECTIONAL COUNSELOR II (SPECIALIST)

Correctional Counselor II (Specialist) (Litigation Coordinator) Job Description and Duties Under the direction of the Institutional Chief Deputy Warden, the Litigation Coordinator performs specific duties including, but not limited to: Initiate responses to all institutional legal correspondence. Review confidential records and files to be used in litigation to protect relevancy. Compile, review, and evaluate for compliance all documents related to matters at issue in litigations regarding the institution or institutional staff. Prepare responses to discovery requests or other documentation required during litigation. Provide documents for the Attorney General and disseminate information to courts, inmates, or attorneys as directed. Receive, file, and prepare initial documentation for the Attorney General on all litigation affecting the institution or staff. Assist staff with legal contacts with the court, inmate attorney, or attorney representing staff. Obtain documents and backup materials as requested by the AAO/EEO; documents will be used by the AAO/EEO to prepare responses to discrimination complaints. Working Conditions Limited term 12 months; may be extended up to 24 months or become permanent.
