Merchandiser

About the Role:

The Merchandiser plays a vital role in ensuring that retail products in the Chicago Southland area are displayed effectively to maximize sales and enhance the customer shopping experience. This position involves organizing and maintaining product displays, managing inventory levels, and collaborating with store management to implement promotional strategies. The Merchandiser is responsible for the physical handling of merchandise, including safely and efficiently lifting and transporting heavy items. By applying visual merchandising principles, this role helps create attractive, engaging point-of-purchase displays that draw customer attention and drive sales. Ultimately, the Merchandiser contributes to the overall success of the retail environment by ensuring that products are presented in a way that supports brand standards and meets store goals.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Proven experience in merchandising or retail environments involving physical handling of products.
• Ability to lift and carry heavy weights safely and efficiently.
• Basic knowledge of visual merchandising principles and retail sales operations.
• Familiarity with using hand trucks and other material handling equipment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working in a fast-paced retail environment.
• Training or certification in workplace safety and ergonomics.
• Knowledge of store accounting procedures related to inventory management.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities:

• Arrange and maintain product displays according to company visual merchandising guidelines and seasonal promotions.
• Transport merchandise from storage areas to sales floors using hand trucks and other equipment, ensuring safe handling of heavy items.
• Monitor inventory levels on the sales floor and coordinate with store accounts to replenish stock as needed.
• Balance the physical demands of lifting and carrying heavy weights while maintaining safety standards to prevent injury.
• Collaborate with retail sales teams to optimize product placement and enhance customer engagement at point-of-purchase locations.
