Locations North Platte, Nebraska Application Deadline September 8th Anticipated Start and End Dates October 13th through December 18th with flexibility Salary Information $22 per hour. 32-40 hours per week. Duties Work in a joint capacity with Pheasants Forever, Inc. (PF), in the Loess Canyons of Nebraska removing scattered Eastern Red Cedar. Activities may include hand cutting cedar trees with a variety of hand tools. Interns will work closely with multiple wildlife biologists assisting with various projects related to wildlife management. Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities Must be able to work effectively with private landowners, governmental agency staff and conservation organization representatives. Ability to work independently with little supervision. Ability to work under adverse weather conditions. Must be in physical shape to operate hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment such as chainsaws, loppers and brush cutters. As assigned by crew leader. Perform equipment and tool maintenance to ensure readiness and accountability of assigned gear. Complete daily work logs, time reports and treatment accomplishment records. Must be able to follow detailed verbal and written instructions. Valid driver’s license required with an acceptable driving record. Complete and comprehend all training as directed by supervisor(s). Abide by all company policies, rules and safety regulations as directed. Collect research data concerning tree cutting. Training and Experience Guideline Any combination of training and/or experience that will enable the applicant to possess the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Applicant must be interested or possess a degree in wildlife management or closely related natural resources field.
