Patient Population The patient population on our acute care floor can be diverse, encompassing individuals of different ages, genders, cultures, and medical conditions. Patients typically require immediate medical attention due to severe illnesses, injuries, or surgical procedures, including acute respiratory distress, cardiac emergencies, infections, traumatic injuries, or complications from chronic conditions. This department requires medical care and monitoring to stabilize and treat their conditions. Patients in isolation may include respiratory infections, gastrointestinal illnesses, or skin infections. They are cared for under isolation precautions, such as COVID‑19, MRSA, or C. difficile, following specific protocols to prevent spread of disease. Job Summary As a Registered Nurse, oversee patient care using a professional practice model. Responsibilities include patient assessment, recognizing health issues, creating care plans, and assessing patient responses. Secure patient travel. Know about patient needs in healthcare. Help patients and prevent issues. Follow the Texas Nursing Practice Act and delegate tasks based on condition and team competencies. Essential Functions Of The Role Conduct detailed clinical assessments and prioritize patient and family needs. Create, implement, and evaluate care plans. Adjust plans to reach desired outcomes. Build relationships, manage discomfort, and maintain professionalism to establish therapeutic connections with patients and families. Create care plans reflecting values to resolve issues. Educate patients, families, nurses, and community members. Empower them with knowledge for better healthcare choices. Assess and document learning needs regularly. Work with colleagues and the community to create a care plan. Delegate tasks carefully and follow up promptly. Use different strategies for problem‑solving with patients, families, and staff. Recognize limitations and prioritize safety, effectiveness, and efficiency in patient care planning and delivery. Key Success Factors A deep understanding of nursing and patient care standards, as well as procedures. Know nursing laws, rules, standards, and guidelines in your area.
