Nature & Scope

Positional Overview

The Imagine Group is recruiting for a Senior Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Specialist on behalf of our client, a leading financial institution in Buffalo, New York.

In this role, you will support the organization's Enterprise Risk Management function across multiple risk programs, including risk appetite, risk identification, risk assessments, governance, policy management, and risk and control processes.

The ideal candidate is a well-rounded risk management professional with extensive banking or financial services experience and the ability to navigate complex risk environments. This individual will collaborate with senior leadership, provide governance and reporting support, manage risk-related issues, and contribute to the ongoing enhancement of enterprise risk processes and technologies.

This position requires a highly adaptable professional who can shift between teams, initiatives, and priorities while maintaining strong relationships and delivering consistent results.

Role & Responsibility

Tasks That Will Lead to Your Success

1. Support enterprise risk management programs involving risk appetite, risk identification, risk assessments, policy management, and risk and control frameworks.
2. Partner with senior leadership to support enterprise risk governance, reporting, and strategic risk initiatives.
3. Assist with the development, maintenance, and enhancement of risk appetite frameworks, monitoring processes, and reporting.
4. Identify, assess, document, and escalate risk-related issues in accordance with established policies and regulatory expectations.
5. Support risk and control assessments, including the identification of gaps, documentation of findings, and tracking of remediation activities.
6. Contribute to enterprise policy management processes, ensuring alignment with organizational risk standards and governance requirements.
7. Utilize enterprise Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) platforms, including RSA Archer, IBM OpenPages, or comparable solutions, to support risk management activities.
8. Participate in GRC system implementations, upgrades, enhancements, and process improvement initiatives as needed.
9. Develop and enhance risk reporting, management presentations, and documentation to support leadership decision-making.
10. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve risk management processes, reporting capabilities, and operational effectiveness.
11. Support multiple enterprise risk programs and adjust responsibilities as business needs and priorities evolve.
12. Maintain awareness of emerging risks, industry best practices, and evolving banking regulations.
13. Promote strong internal controls, effective risk governance, and compliance with the organization's established risk appetite.

Skills & Experience

Qualifications That Will Help You Thrive

1. Minimum of 7 years of relevant professional experience; ideally 10–20 years within banking, financial services, or enterprise risk management.
2. Broad understanding of Enterprise Risk Management principles, methodologies, and frameworks.
3. Demonstrated experience with risk appetite, risk identification, risk assessments, risk and controls, and policy management.
4. Experience supporting enterprise risk governance, issues management, and leadership reporting.
5. Strong understanding of banking risk management practices, internal controls, and regulatory expectations.
6. Experience using enterprise GRC platforms such as RSA Archer, IBM OpenPages, or comparable technologies.
7. Ability to work across multiple risk programs and adapt quickly to changing priorities.
8. Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and critical-thinking skills.
9. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex risk information to senior leadership.
10. Proven ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional stakeholders.
11. Strong attention to detail and experience developing professional risk documentation and reporting.

Education and Experience Preferred

1. Bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Finance, Business Administration, Information Systems, or a related field.
2. Extensive Enterprise Risk Management experience within a banking or financial services organization.
3. Hands-on experience with RSA Archer, particularly implementations, upgrades, enhancements, or process improvements.
4. Experience with IBM OpenPages or other enterprise GRC technologies.
5. CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional) or CRISC (Certified in Risk and Information Systems Control) certification.
6. Experience using Microsoft Copilot or similar productivity technologies.
7. Experience supporting multiple risk programs within a large, complex financial institution.
