Yard WorkersYard Workers are important members of the Star Nursery team. They provide outstanding customer services and sales assistance to customers. They answer customers' questions, recommend products/materials & provide a safe working/shopping environment. They provide general plant upkeep & quality control and work outside in yard area of our stores.Job Description:Follows operations standards for cost control, waste reduction, quality, safety, and complete and on-time serviceFollows policies in the areas of operations techniques, materials usage.Loading and unloading plant materialOperating a forkliftProduct quality controlProduct knowledge & Plant maintenance (watering, cleaning, pruning)Stocking & LabelingStore upkeepReceiving, Stocking & Moving MerchandisePerforms other related duties as assignedSkills:Planning: an ability to think ahead and plan in short/long term rangesThe ability to organize and manage multiple prioritiesProblem analysis and problem resolution at both a strategic and functionalStrong ability to interact in a positive manner with varying types of customers, both retail and commercialExcellent interpersonal and communication skillsStrong team playerCommitment to company valuesAbility to follow directions as well as work independently to achieve goals and complete assigned tasksAbility to work outdoors in all types of weatherForklift experience (will train and in-house Certify for 18+ years of age)Qualifications:Effective and relevant work experience in lawn and garden center industry or equivalentHonest and hard workingMust be able to work long hours (seasonal overtime available) in all types of weather conditionsMust be able to lift & move plant materialMust be able to pass a drug test (safety sensitive position)Authorization to work in the United StatesPhysical Aspects of the Job:Frequently bending, twisting and rotating trunk, arms and legsStanding 100% of the time/walking 99% of the time/climbing 10% of the timeWorking with arms extended and bent constantlyFrequently moving parts and stock weighing up to 35 pounds, 10 to 50 feetOccasionally moving parts and stock weighing up to 50 pounds; pushing and pullingFrequently moving merchandise weighing 10 to 25 pounds from floor to counterOccasionally moving and stocking overhead shelves with parts weighing 5 to 15 poundsConstant gross hand and finger dexterity; frequently grasping and manipulatingConstant hand and eye coordinationEqual Opportunity Employer This employer is required to notify all applicants of their rights pursuant to federal employment laws.
