Commissioning Engineer: Building Systems & Performance

OVERVIEW : Provide construction and acceptance phase commissioning services, including completion of pre‑functional checklists, issue documentation and tracking, and functional performance testing of HVAC, building lighting, lighting control systems, power systems (emergency power, plumbing).

DURING YOUR WORK DAY, YOU WILL:

Perform construction and acceptance phase commissioning services, including completion of pre‑functional checklists, issue documentation and tracking, and functional performance testing of HVAC, building lighting, lighting control systems, power and plumbing systems. Support the Senior Commissioning Engineer in completing pre‑functional checklists, issue log documentation and tracking, functional performance testing, and compiling the final commissioning report. Communicate clearly with the project team (owner, contractor, and McKim & Creed team members).

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

A minimum of 5 years’ experience with new building or existing building commissioning, including on‑site testing. Bachelor's degree from an ABET accredited mechanical or electrical engineering program. Experience providing commissioning activities: reviewing contractor submittals, RFIs, supervising contractor completion of pre‑functional checklists. Coordinate, witness, and document execution of functional performance tests performed by the contractor. Document and track to closure issues identified during completion of pre‑functional checklists and functional performance tests. Compile all commissioning documentation for incorporation into the Final Commissioning Report. Ability to translate technical knowledge to a non‑technical audience. Proficiency in reading architectural, electrical, and low‑voltage drawings and specifications. Report writing and carrying out assignments from conception to completion. Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills. Willingness and ability to deal constructively with conflicts. Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 (SharePoint, Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Physical abilities: lifting/carrying 50 lbs occasionally, 20 lbs frequently, climbing stairs/ladders, negotiating construction sites, bending, stooping, kneeling. Ability to work independently with limited direction; respond to direction from Senior Commissioning Agent. Valid driver's license and acceptable motor vehicle record.

WHAT WILL MAKE YOU STAND OUT:

Commissioning licensing as Certified Commissioning Professional (CCP), Certified Building Commissioning Professional (CBCP), or Certified Commissioning Agent (CxA). Professional engineer licensure (preferred but not required).
