Department: Youth Autism Services (YAS)Employment Status: Full-Time / Part-Time Location: On-site & Community-Based Reports To: YAS Program Supervisor / Clinical LeadSalary: $18/HRPosition SummaryThe Youth Autism Support Counselor plays a vital role in supporting children and adolescents with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) within the Youth Autism Services (YAS) Program at The League for People with Disabilities. This position provides direct support, skill-building, and behavioral assistance in structured and community-based environments while promoting independence, emotional regulation, social engagement, and positive outcomes aligned with individualized goals.This role is ideal for compassionate professionals who are passionate about making a meaningful impact in the lives of youth and families through structured support, consistency, and collaboration.Key ResponsibilitiesDirect Youth SupportProvide one-on-one and small-group support to youth with autism in accordance with Individualized Service Plans (ISPs), IEP goals, and clinical recommendationsSupport daily routines, transitions, social interactions, communication, and emotional regulationImplement behavior support strategies using positive reinforcement and evidence-based practicesModel appropriate social, communication, and coping skillsProgram & Activity ImplementationAssist with planning and facilitating structured activities that promote social skills, life skills, and engagementSupport youth during therapeutic, recreational, educational, and community-based activitiesMaintain a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment at all timesDocumentation & CommunicationAccurately complete daily notes, incident reports, and progress documentation as requiredCommunicate effectively with supervisors, clinical staff, educators, and familiesParticipate in team meetings, trainings, and supervision sessionsCollaboration & ProfessionalismWork collaboratively with BCBAs, therapists, educators, and interdisciplinary team membersFollow all League policies, YAS program guidelines, and regulatory requirementsMaintain confidentiality and uphold ethical standards at all timesRequired QualificationsHigh School Diploma or GED requiredExperience working with children or adolescents with Autism Spectrum Disorder or developmental disabilities preferredAbility to follow behavior support plans and individualized programmingStrong communication, patience, and problem-solving skillsAbility to remain calm and professional in high-energy or challenging situationsPreferred QualificationsAssociate 's or Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Education, Social Work, Human Services, or related fieldPrior experience in ABA-informed settings, youth programs, camps, or school-based environmentsCPI, PMT, or crisis intervention training (or willingness to obtain)Physical & Work RequirementsAbility to engage in active programming, including standing, walking, and participating in activitiesAbility to lift, push, or pull up to 50lbs as neededAbility to work indoors, outdoors, and in community settingsFlexible availability including afternoons, evenings, and/or weekends as required
