Orthopedics - Hand Surgery Physician

We are seeking a Board-Certified Orthopedic Surgeon for a locum tenens opportunity in Waterloo & Cedar Falls, Iowa . This assignment focuses strictly on call and inpatient coverage , with no clinic responsibilities.

Waterloo & Cedar Falls, Iowa

Coverage Dates

• Aug 5 (7:00 AM) Aug 10 (7:00 AM)

• Oct 26 (7:00 AM) Nov 6 (7:00 AM)

Schedule

• 24-hour call coverage

• Inpatient responsibilities only

• Coverage across two hospitals

• No outpatient clinic duties

Practice Setting

• Hospital-based orthopedic coverage

• Supportive team environment

️ Team Structure

• 4 Physicians

• 4 Advanced Practice Providers

• APP supervision not required

Patient Volume

• Average daily census: patients across both facilities

Technology

• EMR: Epic

Scope of Practice
Orthopedic care across a wide range of conditions including:

• Trauma and acute injuries

• Degenerative joint disease

• Spine conditions

• Musculoskeletal infections

• Tumors and metabolic bone disorders

• Sports injuries and fractures

• Conditions affecting the hip, knee, shoulder, elbow, hands, and feet

Responsibilities may also include:

• Emergency consults

• Surgical management

• ICU patient care (as needed per hospital policies)

• Flights reimbursed

• Lodging

• Rental car

• Mileage reimbursed at IRS standard rate

Requirements

• Board Certified in Orthopedic Surgery

• Fellowship trained

• Active Iowa License or IMLC

• Must be experienced

• Must be able to cover both date blocks

• Clean malpractice/background history

• Recent NPDB report required
