Logistics Manager - Dedicated Transportation

Job Summary The main purpose of a Logistics Manager is to plan and direct operations while improving productivity and efficiency. The Logistics Manager provides leadership and direction to the dispatch staff, company drivers, and owner‑operators while overseeing communication functions to effect economical utilization of vehicle facilities. This role accomplishes these objectives through the responsibilities listed below. Benefits Comprehensive training and ongoing professional development opportunities Regional and local Ryder resources to guide and support growth Stability and peace‑of‑mind associated with working for a Fortune 500 organization with over 85 years in business and 36,000 employees worldwide 12 weeks of paid maternity leave Additional day of paid time off for military veterans Responsibilities Responsible for all aspects of daily fleet operations Develop policies, programs, and procedures for efficient operations of transportation systems and terminals Set schedules, routes, and assign drivers and vehicles Serve as the first point of contact for operational information, including store delivery services, issues, backhaul information, driver scheduling/availability, and driver concerns Submit recommendations for compliance with transportation policies, procedures, and programs Conduct continuous analysis of vehicle and driver schedules to increase efficiency and reduce costs Review and analyze reports such as revenue and performance records to evaluate productivity and recommend changes Recruit, orient, train, and monitor progression of new drivers Monitor turnover, evaluate operation mileage, equipment, time off and pay, and develop programs to minimize turnover Enforce compliance and administrative policies, procedures, safety rules, and government regulations (e.g., logs, equipment condition) Direct operation and maintenance of equipment and communication systems; review procedures and provide guidance to resolve technical problems; analyze costs and recommend cost‑control measures; and develop plans, policies, and budgets Other duties as assigned Additional Responsibilities Perform additional duties as assigned Be available to work on a flexible schedule across various shifts Skills and Abilities Build and manage effective teams Strong leadership and motivating skills Strong verbal and written communication skills Bilingual in English and French (for Quebec locations only) Effective interpersonal skills within a diverse team environment Problem‑solving and analytical skills Excellent organizational skills Ability to prioritize, structure, and schedule tasks to maximize effort and meet deadlines Computer literacy and ability to use Microsoft Office Suite (Excel & Word required) Advanced knowledge of transportation and/or warehouse logistics operations Advanced knowledge of safety and security requirements Qualifications High school diploma or GED required Bachelor's degree in business, logistics, supply chain, or related field preferred Three (3) years or more of experience in supply chain, logistics, warehouse, or related field Two (2) years or more of managing and leading direct reports Advanced knowledge of transportation and/or warehouse logistics operations Advanced knowledge of safety and security requirements DOT Regulated No Equal Employment Opportunity Ryder is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer and Drug‑Free workplace.
