Nurse staffing varies based on patient acuity and census. Typical patient ratio: 4:1 (Med/Surg population). Patient Population & Procedures The unit cares for pediatric patients requiring medical and surgical care, including: Cleft palate repairs Appendectomies Chest tube management Lumbar punctures Seizure management Non-invasive cardiology patients Thoracic procedures (thoracotomy, thoracoscopy, pectus bar placement) Orthopedic and General Surgery patients Note: No neurosurgery, stroke, or foreign body airway removal cases. Required Qualifications Minimum 1 year of PICU RN experience Current BLS Certification Current PALS Certification Preferred Qualifications ACLS Certification Floating May float to NICU Level I or Level II as needed.
