Radiation Therapist

Job Responsibilities:

• Administers radiation therapy in accordance with physician's instructions and the patient's treatment plan.
• Enters data into computer systems and adjusts equipment controls to regulate dosage as required.
• Assists healthcare professionals in preparing the technical aspects of radiation treatment plans based on patient conditions and anatomy.
• Constructs patient immobilization devices as directed by physicians.
• Maintains accurate patient and billing records, reports, and files according to department policies, including details on radiation dosages, equipment settings, and patient reactions.
• Performs routine and complex radiation therapy treatments such as total body irradiation, stereotactic radiosurgery, and low and high brachytherapy in line with established practices and standards.
• Prepares equipment and treatment rooms for patient sessions.
• Utilizes appropriate protective equipment and follows safety procedures to ensure the safety of patients, self, and others.
• Conducts quality assurance procedures in compliance with state and federal guidelines.
• Provides mentorship, clinical instruction, and evaluation for student radiation therapists.

Required Education:

• Graduation from a Radiation Therapy Technologist program accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT).

Required Certifications & Licensure:

• Radiation Therapy certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).

Preferred Skills & Experience:

Elekta experience is preferred.

Schedule Notes:

The clinic operates from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM, with varying shifts within these hours.
