Quality Assurance Lab Technician – 2nd Shift

Long-Term Contract | Food & Flavor Manufacturing

Are you a hands-on Quality professional who enjoys working in a laboratory environment and being part of the action on the production floor? We’re looking for a Quality Assurance Laboratory Technician to join an established and innovative food ingredient and flavor manufacturer on 2nd shift. For nearly 40 years, this company has been developing and manufacturing custom-formulated specialty ingredients and flavors for leading food brands, retailers, and co-manufacturers. The company is known for combining food science, quality, and innovation to create customized solutions for a diverse range of products. This is a long-term contract opportunity with the chance to become an important part of a collaborative Quality and Production team.

 

As a Quality Assurance Laboratory Technician, you’ll play a key role in making sure finished products meet quality and food safety standards. Your responsibilities will include:

• Perform routine QC testing on finished products.
• Accurately and immediately record QC results in Deacom.
• Conduct sensory evaluations of flavors produced by the manufacturing team and communicate any out-of-specification results to QA.
• Collect microbiological and other required samples for the QA laboratory.
• Pull control samples for daily sensory evaluations.
• Manage and maintain retained samples from refrigerators and coolers.
• Prepare and send pre-shipment samples to customers.
• Scan and organize organic batch documentation.
• Monitor and maintain laboratory supply inventory.
• Keep the laboratory clean, organized, and operating according to Good Laboratory Practices.
• Follow all GMP, food safety, and quality procedures.
• Support other laboratory technicians and assist with coverage when needed.
• Learn and perform additional QC testing methods as required.
• Step in to support broader QA responsibilities and special projects as needed.

 

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Microbiology, Food Science, or related preferred; High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 1+ year of experience working in a QC laboratory preferred.
• Basic computer skills and the ability to accurately enter and maintain data.
• Strong sensory evaluation skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively across departments.
• Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.
• Organized, dependable, and able to complete projects and testing in a timely manner.
• Willingness to learn new laboratory methods and take on additional responsibilities.
• Requires steel toe boots.
