- Educational Diagnostician's Certificate
- Good communication skills
- Ability to relate well with students, teachers, colleagues, and supervisory personnel and to work effectively within a multidisciplinary setting
- Applied use of computer operations
- Applied use of software productivity tools (i.e., Microsoft Office)
- Applied use of e-mail
- Applied use of printers
- Applied use of job-related financial and student management systems
- Applied use of multimedia tools
- Applied use of electronic file management

- One year experience as an educational diagnostician
- Administers and interprets psycho-educational tests.
- Prepares comprehensive written reports relating test results to the educational setting.
- Integrates behavioral data into classroom management strategy recommendations.
- Integrates material/instructional resource data into classroom strategy recommendations.
- Utilizes both formal and informal techniques to assess skills.
- Utilizes knowledge of reading and math curriculum and a wide variety of materials and strategies to develop Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
- Participates in case staffing, seeks consultative assistance from coordinator, consultant, and peers.
- Responsible for all ARDs except those assigned to secondary chairpersons or assigned to the secondary re-evaluation by ARD team.
- Works with campus staffs to plan, implement, monitor, and evaluate special education instructional programs.
- Provides and coordinates instructional resources and materials programmatically to campus special education staffs to support instructional goals.
- Recommends appropriate placement of special education students for instructional purposes at the campus and District levels.
- Recommends effective classroom strategies and techniques to improve instruction.
- Establishes good working rapport with local school staff.
- Promotes high expectations regarding improvement of instruction.
- Promotes use of positive discipline management plans in special education classrooms.
- Facilitates conflict resolution through the use of effective communication skills.
- Participates on committees designed to enhance department/district activities.
- Consults with local school staff in regard to individual student problems.
- Conducts parent/guardian conferences for interpretation of test data/discussion of recommendations.
- Pursues communication with non-school agencies/professional to enhance database.
- Serves as liaison with outside agencies/professionals to enhance transitional services.
- Assumes personal responsibility for continuing professional growth/employee development.
- Accepts and analyzes constructive criticism in a professional manner.
- Provides constructive criticism in a professional manner.
- Shares multidisciplinary team assessment responsibilities effectively.
- Demonstrates an ability to organize and prioritize activities effectively.
- Demonstrates comprehensive understanding of federal/state/local appraisal guidelines.
