Travel OR RN Job Details

• Position Type: 13-week travel nursing contract
• Location: Toledo, Ohio
• Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,120–$2,230
• Start Date: November 2, 2026
• End Date: February 1, 2027
• Schedule: Day shift, 10-hour shift designation; four shifts per week, approximately 10:30 a.m.–8:00 p.m.
• Call Requirements: One call day per week and one weekend of call approximately every six weeks
• Unit Overview: 18 operating rooms with a varied surgical caseload and robotic surgery utilization
• Additional Requirement: Dysrhythmia examination required; study materials are available
• Travel Requirement: Local candidates residing within 50 miles are not eligible

Operating Room RN Job Requirements

• Active Registered Nurse license in the state of practice or compact RN license
• At least 2 years of recent Operating Room or perioperative nursing experience
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an approved provider
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required for applicable surgical department assignments
• Successful completion of the required dysrhythmia examination
• Strong knowledge of sterile technique, surgical safety, infection prevention, and perioperative nursing standards
• Ability to care for patients across the lifespan, from neonates through geriatrics
• Previous Level I trauma experience preferred
• Strong neuro and/or orthopedic surgical experience preferred, including total joint procedures
• Completion of an OR internship or perioperative training program preferred
• CNOR certification and experience with gastroenterology procedures preferred
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred

Operating Room Nurse Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative nursing care using the nursing process.
• Assess patients before, during, and after surgery, identify changing needs, and evaluate outcomes.
• Coordinate patient care with surgeons, anesthesia professionals, surgical technologists, and the interdisciplinary team.
• Maintain a safe, organized, and comfortable environment for patients and the surgical team.
• Anticipate the needs of the scrub nurse and surgical team by preparing sterile supplies, equipment, and instrumentation.
• Assist with patient positioning, gowning, draping, surgical preparation, Foley catheter placement, IV access, and other perioperative procedures within scope of practice.
• Monitor the operating room and personnel for adherence to aseptic technique and surgical safety standards.
• Operate and anticipate the use of surgical equipment and technology, including robotic surgery and neuro-navigation systems.
• Assist anesthesia personnel during induction and emergence, and safely transport patients as needed.
• Administer medications safely and document patient care accurately in the electronic medical record.
• Provide patient and family education, including postoperative instructions and support throughout the surgical experience.
• Advocate for patient safety, privacy, dignity, and culturally responsive care.
• Collaborate with colleagues to support quality improvement, effective resource utilization, and positive patient outcomes.
