Financial Aid Counselor

Mississippi State University is hiring a Financial Aid Counselor. The role involves assisting students and parents with financial aid applications, reviewing documents, and determining eligibility for federal Title IV and other aid programs. Additionally, the counselor provides financial aid counseling, processes student loans, and stays updated on related federal, state, and institutional regulations. Highlights Provide guidance to students and parents on completing federal, state, and institutional financial aid applications. Review and verify student‑submitted documents and determine award amounts through needs analysis. Process, review, and reconcile student loans and monitor satisfactory academic progress. Conduct financial aid counseling related to student enrollment changes and eligibility. Deliver presentations for students at various events including orientations and external functions. Maintain knowledge of federal, state, and institutional financial aid policies and regulations. Use computerized systems to manage financial aid data and reporting. Requires a Bachelor's Degree and at least two years of financial aid or business/accounting experience. Must have strong communication, analytical, and organizational skills along with the ability to interpret complex federal regulations.
