Business Development Manager

About the Role
We sell custom software engagements to Fortune 500 engineering and product leaders. The offer is concrete: a paid pilot with named deliverables, then a fixed-fee build. Your job is to get us into the rooms where that decision gets made, and to move a deal from first meeting to signed statement of work.
This is a hunting role. There is no inbound queue to work. You bring relationships, research accounts, book executive meetings, and run the sales cycle with our engineering leadership on the technical calls.
What You'll Do
- Build and work a target list of Fortune 500 accounts across engineering, product, and technology leadership
- Book qualified meetings with VP-level and C-level buyers through outbound and your own network
- Run discovery, scope pilots with our engineering lead, and drive proposals to signature
- Keep the pipeline honest in the CRM: stage, next step, close date
- Feed what you hear in the market back into how we position and price
Requirements
- 5+ years selling technology services or custom software to large enterprises, with closed deals you can describe in detail
- A live network in Fortune 500 engineering or product organizations
- Comfortable selling a fixed-fee engagement model against time-and-materials incumbents
- Able to explain to a buyer what an engineering team does with AI tooling, and why they can trust it
- Prior sales at a boutique consultancy or software agency
- Experience running pilot-to-program sales motions
- Familiarity with procurement and supplier onboarding at large companies
- Experience contracting through your own company
- Authorized to work in the United States. We do not sponsor visas now or in the future.
Engagement Terms
- Contract. A monthly retainer for defined activity, plus commission on collected revenue from deals you source. Terms in writing before you start.
- $75 to $125 per hour equivalent, depending on retainer scope and experience
- Remote within the US. We are not currently engaging contractors who live in California, Massachusetts, or New Jersey.
- Start immediately. Initial engagement with the option to extend.
- Offer contingent on a background check, at our expense
