Shop Foreman / Lead Heavy Equipment Mechanic

Location: South Louisiana
Pay: $35-$40 DOE

We are seeking an experienced Shop Foreman / Lead Heavy Equipment Mechanic to oversee shop operations, lead mechanics, and handle advanced diagnostics and repairs on heavy equipment, trucks, diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and fleet equipment.

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who can lead by example, troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical issues, and keep equipment operating with minimal downtime.

We are looking for a candidate with strong experience in:

• Heavy equipment repair
• Diesel engine diagnostics
• Hydraulic troubleshooting
• Electrical diagnostics
• Fleet maintenance
• Shop leadership
• Supervising mechanics and technicians
• Preventative maintenance programs
• OSHA and safety compliance

What You’ll Be Doing

• Supervise and coordinate daily shop operations and mechanic workflow
• Diagnose and repair diesel, hydraulic, electrical, PTO, driveline, and hydraulic systems
• Oversee preventative maintenance schedules and major repairs
• Support mechanics with advanced troubleshooting and diagnostics
• Prioritize breakdowns and minimize equipment downtime
• Ensure repairs are completed safely, correctly, and efficiently
• Monitor repair documentation, work orders, and repair status updates
• Communicate directly with management regarding equipment readiness and repair timelines
• Train and mentor mechanics while maintaining a productive shop environment
• Coordinate with vendors and parts suppliers as needed

Equipment & Systems Experience Preferred

• Heavy equipment
• Vacuum trucks
• Construction equipment
• Hydraulic systems
• PTO systems
• Diesel engines
• Electrical systems
• Air brake systems
• Driveline and transmission repair

Diagnostic Software Experience Preferred

• CAT ET
• Cummins Insite
• JPRO
• Samsara
• E360 or similar maintenance software

Ideal Candidate

• 10+ years heavy equipment or diesel mechanic experience
• Previous lead mechanic, foreman, or shop supervisor experience preferred
• Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting ability
• Able to lead crews while remaining hands-on in the shop
• Experience handling emergency breakdowns and fast-paced repair environments
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Safety-focused mindset
• TWIC preferred
