Assistant Controller

A well-established manufacturing organization is seeking an experienced Assistant Controller to support and oversee day-to-day accounting operations at its Middletown, CT facility. This is a hands‑on leadership role within a growing finance team, offering exposure across payroll, AP, month‑end close, and operational accounting functions. The position will work closely with senior leadership while managing a small accounting team and helping drive process improvements, reporting enhancements, and operational efficiencies across the business. Key Responsibilities Assist in overseeing daily accounting operations, including payroll, accounts payable, and general ledger activities Manage and mentor a team across accounting and payroll functions Support month‑end close, reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting processes Review payroll activity for a multi‑frequency employee population across the U.S. Ensure compliance with payroll regulations, internal controls, and accounting policies Partner with HR, operations, and leadership teams on financial and operational matters Identify opportunities for process improvements, automation, and workflow efficiencies Support ERP and systems‑related initiatives, reporting projects, and ad hoc analysis Candidate Profile Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred 7+ years of accounting experience within a manufacturing environment Prior leadership experience managing accounting or payroll staff Strong understanding of month‑end close, payroll operations, and AP processes Experience with ERP systems and payroll platforms such as ADP preferred Hands‑on approach with strong communication and organizational skills Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment Next Steps To learn more about this opportunity, contact Kenton at HireIQ. #J-18808-Ljbffr HireIQ
