Senior Lead Software Engineer - Payments, Java

Salary: $61,000 - 101,000 per year Requirements:

• Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts, with 10+ years of applied experience
• Advanced knowledge of Java and Spring Boot
• Practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability
• Proficiency in automation and continuous delivery methods
• Expertise across the software development life cycle, engineering principles, design patterns, and best practices
• Advanced understanding of agile methodologies, including CI/CD, application resiliency, and security
• Demonstrated proficiency in software applications and technical processes in a discipline such as cloud, AI, machine learning, or mobile
• Experience with high-throughput, low-latency distributed systems and system integration
• A proven record of supporting end users and strong problem-solving skills
• Experience using enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools for coding, code review, testing, or troubleshooting, and setting expectations for validating AI outputs for correctness, performance, and security
• Understanding of responsible AI use in engineering, including data sensitivity, secure handling of inputs and outputs, and resiliency and security requirements; experience coaching senior engineers or leads on compliant practices and controls
• Preferred: 10+ years of Java development experience
• Preferred: Advanced knowledge of reactive programming
• Preferred: Knowledge of on-premises and/or public cloud environments
• Preferred: Knowledge of CockroachDB, Cassandra, or other distributed databases

• Develop creative software solutions, design and build systems, and troubleshoot technical issues using approaches beyond routine methods
• Manage delivery for two scrum teams
• Spend at least 50% of the time coding as a hands-on technical lead
• Develop secure, high-quality production code and review and debug colleagues code
• Promote and govern approved AI-assisted engineering practices across teams to improve code quality, delivery speed, and operational outcomes
• Establish measurable validation standards for AI-assisted engineering, including secure coding, peer review, and automated testing, and encourage reuse of proven patterns and automation across the SDLC/TLM toolchain
• Apply software development life cycle tools, including approved AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to increase the value of automation at scale
• Identify ways to eliminate or automate recurring issue remediation and improve application and system stability
• Lead evaluations with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to assess architectural designs, technical credentials, and fit with existing systems and information architecture
• Lead Software Engineering communities of practice to increase awareness and adoption of emerging technologies
