About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: MedSurg/Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Nights EOW, first to float Hours per Shift: 36 hours per week Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience License: RN License Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: Reading basic telemetry strips. Experience with general and orthopedic surgical patients. Experience with CVA and TIA. Description: Unit provides telemetry for surgical and neuro patients. The unit has a total of 48 beds. Patient ratios are 1:5. Common diagnoses include COVID, respiratory issues, GI, diabetes, TIA, CVA, general surgical patients, orthopedic and spinal patients. Experience with reading tele strips is required, and RNs are expected to interpret strips. Telemetry is monitored remotely, and techs read and post strips. Charge nurses and house supervisors are present, but charge nurses do not take patient assignments. Nurse aides are available on the unit with ratios of 1:10-15. Equipment includes Bipap, Cpap, high flow, and some breathing treatments. Shifts are 12 hours long with a 30-minute unpaid lunch. Scheduling is done for 4 weeks with self-scheduling used. There is a requirement to work two weekends in a four-week schedule. For holidays, there is a preference for working two days and one evening or two evenings and a day. Floating to other units may be required if qualified. The dress code for the unit includes navy blue scrubs. Charting is done using an electronic system.
